We are at a critical moment to bridge persistent gaps in access to quality education. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, an expanded array of online tools, from open-source video conferencing to advanced distance learning platforms, has given us both the opportunity and the responsibility as educators to make learning and knowledge more widely accessible. The Open Academy champions equitable access to education and resources for young learners, especially those in under-resourced communities, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color, individuals of all abilities, and those facing financial hardship. By providing free, one-on-one tutoring and creating tailored learning materials, we hope to empower under-served youth to achieve their goals and become leaders of transformative change in their communities.
