We find ourselves at a opportunistic moment to bridge gaps in access to quality education. With expanded online tools brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, including open-source live video conferencing and the expanded use of distance learning tools, we have an obligation as educators to make use of these technologies to make education, learning, and knowledge as accessible as possible. The Open Academy believes in equitable access to education and resources that supports young learners. It's focus however is in supporting under-resourced communities including Black, Indigenous, and people of color, people of all abilities, and those experiencing financial hardship and economic precarity. It is our hope that offering free one-on-one tutoring and creating tailored learning resources will support under served youth to achieve their goals and become leaders of transformative change in their communities.
